A Breakthrough in Collaborative Cardiovascular Education

The 2024 edition of RENEW PCI marked a significant milestone in interventional cardiology education, delivering on its promise to provide a truly transformative learning experience. Rooted in a forward-thinking model of blended educationand the flipped classroom, this year’s course empowered participants to rethink routine practices and embrace the latest evidence-based approaches in percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).

Held through a combination of online modules and an intensive face-to-face workshop in Madrid, RENEW PCI 2024 attracted a diverse cohort of interventional cardiologists from across Europe and beyond. From the outset, participants engaged with faculty through online tutorials, discussions, and needs assessments—ensuring that the in-person programme was tightly focused on practical, relevant challenges.

The Madrid meeting was the heart of the course, featuring interactive case studies, live transmissions, and hands-on sessions that brought learning to life. A final online module gave participants the opportunity to reflect on their real-world application of skills, share challenges, and consolidate their progress.

What set RENEW PCI 2024 apart was its collaborative ethos. By eliminating traditional hierarchies and treating all attendees as co-learners, the course fostered open dialogue, mutual respect, and the free exchange of clinical experience. Whether a seasoned operator or an early-career interventionalist, every participant was empowered to contribute—and to grow.

Backed by a passionate core faculty of educators and thought leaders, RENEW PCI 2024 achieved its goal of catalysing change. As one participant put it, “This course didn’t just teach techniques—it challenged how we think about PCI and how we teach each other to improve it.”

We look forward to continuing this journey in 2025 as we build on this success, expand our community, and shape the future of interventional cardiology—together.
